Encouraging Healthy Habits
Piccadilly has a special interest in helping kids develop healthy habits that will stick with them for life. We devote a lot of our energy and resources to that effort. It begins, of course, with the well-balanced menu options available in our restaurants and is conveyed in much of our philanthropic work.
Walk to Cure Diabetes
For the second year, Piccadilly served as corporate sponsor of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes in March 2009. Piccadilly donated food at the 2.5-mile walk and at the Foundation’s other events around Louisiana. Also, Piccadilly CFO Tom Sandeman served as the Corporate Company Chairman by helping recruit donors and other corporate partners. Ultimately, the Foundation raised a total of $329,200.
Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA)
In 2008, Piccadilly became a major corporate partner of high school athletics throughout the state of Louisiana. Piccadilly is now the title sponsor of the LHSAA All-Academic Scholar Athlete Program, which recognizes Louisiana's top senior student athletes for their achievements in the classroom. LHSAA supports the athletic activities of 400 member schools and their 85,000 students.
Special Olympics Louisiana
As sponsor of the 2009 Louisiana Special Olympics Summer Games, Piccadilly ensured that all participating athletes had a delicious and nutritious meal to help them perform to the best of their abilities. The event, held at Southeastern Louisiana University's Strawberry Stadium in Hammond May 22-24, was a success. Events included athletics, bocce, power lifting and volleyball.
Other Efforts
In 2009, Piccadilly became the newest corporate sponsor of the 2009 National Black Arts Festival, held July 31-August 2 in Atlanta. Piccadilly donated $5,000 to the 2009 festival and donated food to the festival's Children’s Education Village volunteers.
